Mention Boca Raton to many folks from out-of-town and the usual response is they have a Grandma or Aunt or other elderly relative who lives or used to live there. When I first moved here from Long Island 14 years ago I probably thought the same. But visit West Boca Raton today and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. There is something here for just about everyone. The perfect weather, abundant natural beauty and plentiful resources leave you wanting for nothing.
West Boca is a family place. From A+ rated schools, numerous parks and facilities, year round youth sports of every size and shape, a world-wide culinary selection and enough stores to shop till you drop, this place really does have it all. The good news is it is still growing and getting better every day.
My husband and I moved here in 2002 with my two young sons. Over the ensuing years my boys have been through pre-schools, pre-K, elementary school, middle school and high school. Now we are looking at colleges. I am really happy to say that through it all my kids never even had to take a bus to school. The three entrances to our community had an elementary, middle and high school respectively outside of each gate. On top of this, the County Park, also outside of our development, had a great water park and lots of open land when we moved in. Over the years they have continued to develop it and it now boasts an Audubon certified golf course, canine park and amphitheater! And that is only one of the several parks within a few miles of our house.
Did I mention shopping? West Boca Raton has it all. From high end stores like Neiman-Marcus, Tiffany's and Cartier at Boca Town Center Mall to Old Navy, Target and Walmart. Big Box stores to mom and pop locally owned, there is a store for everyone here.
Work up an appetite from all that shopping and playing in the parks? Great, what would you like to eat? We have great gourmet restaurants, casual dining, plenty of delivery choices and even food trucks. Hankering for NY bagels or pizza? Don't worry you can get your fix here in West Boca Raton of that too. Asian, Italian, Greek, all of the great cuisines of the world are here in Boca Raton.
How about the night life? There are lots of live music venues around (like the amphitheater right near our home), the bright lights of Mizner Park and Atlantic Ave on Delray Beach with dance clubs and upscale dining. The art scene is not quite South Beach, but people watching near our beautiful Boca beaches is a great way to pass a sunny day as well.
Yes, like you perhaps, I had some trepidation about giving up my Long Island, NY lifestyle. After all isn't that the center of the universe? But there isn't much I can say I miss from living up north anymore (especially the snow). Plus you can always go visit if you feel like it. More than likely you're northern relatives will be the ones doing the visiting. You might want to consider that when looking for homes down here. Think about an extra bedroom for the northern refugees I mean guests. Or maybe not, if you don't have a room for them, maybe they won't come down quite as often ;-)
You have probably thought about what it would be like to live in this tropical paradise when you visited someone down here in Florida or vacationed here. But now is the time to make this the first day of the rest of your life and begin your new adventure in West Boca Raton. I would love to help you make your dreams come true!
